NYC with @igawolska

Just got back from a week in NYC with @igawolska – few tourist-type activities plus some shopping, but mostly just walking about Manhattan & Brooklyn drinking coffee – we had gorgeous sunshine except for a brief snow-storm in the middle of Central Park. My favourite way of travelling (even on a city break) is to follow my stomach and that’s pretty much what we did – burgers at Wendy’s, burritos, Seafood Gumbo in Chelsea Market, grilled catfish in Harlem, (a lot of) coffee & cake.. Amazon EC2, Hendricks Gin & Gonjasufi

Spent this evening messing about with Amazon EC2 with a view to running Jenkins CI off it for .NET. Set up an instance running Amazon Linux and will carry on playing after sleeps. It took me a while to figure out that Jenkins isn’t the new Hudson (well not exactly) – Hudson stayed with Oracle during takeover of Sun and Jenkins carried on with most of core devs (so both are still running) – each thinks the other is a fork. New years resolutions?

Last January I bought a rowing machine as part of a ‘get healthy’ resolution for the new year – 30 mins ago I got rid of it (finally) after using it as a magazine stand for..a year. It went to a very keen ozzie chap who told me it was part of his new years resolution to get healthy – I felt like the guy at start of Hellraiser giving away some box to hell “it’s yours..it always was!”. I used to make a habit of breaking my new years resolutions as soon as possible in January, as a kind of fuck you to my more positive side. This year I’m hoping to stick to a few, if not all – I’d like them to be.. Read more

Emergency Anti-Middle Class Kit

The most creative Christmas present I got this year was probably my ‘Emergency Anti-Middle Class Kit’ from @PMJtweets – back story is that I was berated at work for eating hummus, and so I got a home-made gift pack complete with instructions (see below) and consisting of.. Read more
